Meet The Team

Rebecca Stephens, LMFT

Primary Therapist

Rebecca comes with a variety of experience in the field of mental health. Before becoming a therapist, Rebecca used her MA degree in Experimental Psychology to work as a Research Analyst at Hathaway-Sycamores, a non-profit mental health agency. In that role, she analyzed client outcomes and evaluated the effectiveness of programs for children and families, particularly in the areas of co-occurring disorders and education-related mental health services.

Eventually looking to have more of a direct impact on clients, Rebecca returned to school and graduated with an MA in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and began her path to becoming a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. For several years, Rebecca worked with high-risk adolescents in school settings, providing individual, group, and family therapy. She then shifted to working in residential treatment settings with individuals struggling with trauma, suicidality, eating disorders, and substance use. In addition, Rebecca worked with adults via telehealth who were struggling with challenges related to COVID-19.

Rebecca uses her own lived experiences in treatment and recovery to inform her work, which gives her an added layer of understanding and compassion. She offers a non-judgmental, client-centered approach and incorporates interventions from several evidenced-based models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). Rebecca strives to work collaboratively with clients to guide them in their journey towards improved wellbeing and self-worth.
