Awakenings is an intensive outpatient program providing treatment for individuals struggling with primary mental health challenges, chronic pain, eating disorders, as well as drug and alcohol addiction.
Our beautiful, nurturing private facility welcomes clients to take part in our uniquely individualized treatment programs designed to meet a broad array of clinical needs. Clients may engage in one specific program or “cross-tracked” in multiple programs if their clinical needs require attention from more than one of our treatment offerings.
At Awakenings Treatment Center, we are mindful of the challenges faced by men and women to discuss painful, traumatic material with members of the opposite gender present, given the nature of group discussions, which often include sexual trauma. To provide the safest and most sensitive environment possible, Awakenings conducts separate Gender Specific Trauma Programs, allowing clients to spend the bulk of their treatment day primarily with same gendered peers. At Awakenings, we find that gender specific trauma groups allow deeper, more intimate sharing among peers.

Recognizing a growing need for additional LGBTQIA+ mental health and addiction support, Awakenings Treatment Center offers a specific track focused on the unique needs of these individuals. It is our intention to cultivate a sense of the LGBTQIA+ community and safety that is lacking in the Ventura County area and beyond. Regardless of how you identify in terms of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression, We are here to support you and your family on your path of discovery.
We provide a safe and confidential space to address LGBTQIA+ mental health issues. Processing many different issues and concerns, we support, coming out, gender and/or sexual identities, bullying, healing trauma and grief, relationship concerns, mental health challenges, workplace issues, and self-esteem. Additionally, we treat psychoeducation around HIV and AIDS, safer sex, and reproduction concerns.
